Marilyn Jean McCarthy, 100, of Springfield, MO went to be with her Lord on the morning of Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was born on Saturday, July 26, 1924 in Enfield, IL to Mable Warthen and Orlando Rose.

Marilyn graduated with Honors from High School at 15 and took extra courses in bookkeeping and finance. She married Eugene McCarthy and they began their life in St. Louis, MO, where they started attending the Pentecostal Church at 13th and Gravois with Pastor Harry Branding. They were called to Ministry and began Pastoring Home Mission Churches in Missouri. In 1954 they moved to Springfield, MO and started a new work in their home which graduated to the church at Missouri and Madison. Marilyn and Eugene Pastored there until his passing in 1975. She was a wonderful mentor to many who knew her and they always loved her strong godly will.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Pamela Rose McCarthy and three sisters Lucille Stump, Bernita Orr and Edith Malone.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Gentry (husband Dave), one grandson David Gentry II (wife Suzanne), two great-grandsons David Gentry III and Daniel Lee Gentry and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE., Springfield, MO 65802. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, 2850 N.
