IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Kathryn
Bracy
July 1, 1944 – October 29, 2024
The world has lost an incredible woman. Marilyn Kathryn (Dixon) Bracy, age 80, entered into heaven on October 29, 2024, surrounded by family and close friends held in love. Marilyn was born on July 1, 1944 in Quincy, Illinois to John and Kathryn (Koerline) Dixon. Marilyn's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her vibrant, fun spirit. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Marilyn was married for almost 60 years to her soulmate, Don.
Marilyn was known for her laughter, her beautiful smile and kind heart. For anyone that entered her home, she always made them feel welcome. She was the heart and soul of her family, and she will be dearly missed.
Marilyn loved to read, travel, attend the theater, and participate in organizations that improved the lives of children. She was one of the founding members of the Ozark PTA, and a trained member of the Volunteer Literacy Project. As a member of the Springfield Little Theater Guild for 12 years, Marilyn was a two-time recipient of the coveted SLT Frannie Award as a dedicated member of the Guild in 2010 and a Tech Frannie in 2011. In addition, Marilyn was a "Big" for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks for many years.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Don Bracy; her daughter, Shari Bracy (Mark Nelson); her grandchildren, Alexandra Johnson and Elijah Bracy (Hayley Bracy); her great- granddaughter, Audrey Kate Bracy; and her sister Angela Dick (Mike Dick). A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends will also mourn her passing.
She is preceded in death by her son, Scott Bracy, her parents and siblings: Gene Dixon, Kathy Wyckoff, Larry Dixon, Barbara Poppie, and Germaine Miller.
Her bright smile and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visitation for Marilyn will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Rivermonte Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Missouri. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a gift may be made to the following in memoriam of her son, Scott Bracy: CoxHealth Foundation – ALS Clinic PO Box 8131 Springfield, MO 65801.
