IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Lou
Plank
September 4, 1929 – March 23, 2025
Margaret Lou Plank was born on September 4, 1929 in Salem Missouri to Ercie and Eva Coppedge. She went to her heavenly home on March 23, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.
Margaret grew up with her brother Carl and sister Marie. Margaret attended Salem High School where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1948. She met the love of her life Gentry Clair Plank while attending high school. They were married in St. Louis on July 21, 1950 and they were inseparable until his passing on May 1, 2009. After starting a family, Margaret and G. Clair moved with their three children from Salem to Kansas City Missouri in 1961. Margaret enjoyed staying at home to care for the children while G. Clair traveled extensively for Kansas City Life Insurance and served with the National Guard. They moved from Kansas City to Springfield in 1969. Margaret continued to care for the children and took on the role as bookkeeper for G. Clair as he started his new agency.
Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She found time to be a den mother for the cub scouts while living in Kansas City and continued that role in Springfield. She loved music and entertaining friends by hosting cocktail parties and the occasional "hootenanny" at the Plank house.
Margaret loved to spend time with the grandchildren and dogs at their cabin at Table Rock Lake on the weekends.
Margaret loved to travel. She and her husband vacationed in Hawaii multiple times. They also traveled to Scotland, Germany, England, Tahiti and Australia, One of the last trips was an Alaskan cruise that she would say was her favorite.
Margaret received exceptional care from the staff at Springhouse Village in her final years. Momma Margo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father Ercie, mother Eva, brother Carl, sister Marie and husband G. Clair.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Diane Plank, son Neal (Marge) Plank and son Tracy Plank. Grandchildren Michael (Kindal) Plank, Stephanie (Kyle Hall) Plank, and Matthew Plank. Great grandchildren Gentry Plank, Campbell Plank, Lyla Hall and Penny Hall.
A private graveside service was held for the family at 2:00pm on Thursday March 27, 2025.
