Lonnie E. Compton, Sr. departed this life on the morning of January 22, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma L. Auberry Compton, his mother Mae Compton, and his father, Lonnie Compton.

He is survived by his children, Debbie & David Bogner, and Lonnie & Susie Compton of Springfield, Missouri.  His grandchildren, Brett Bogner, Bethany & Dustin Mitchell, Matthew & Kelly Compton, and Brandon & Cara Compton.  His great-grandchildren, Quinton, Haylee, Izayah, Emmett, Everett, and Lacey.  A sister, Peggy Jean, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lonnie was a retired senior highway designer with the Missouri State Highway Department.  He was a charter member of the Ozarks Antique Auto Club, and a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.  Lonnie was a Royal Arch Mason and belonged to Vincil Chapter No. 110.  He was a member of the 49ers Reunion Group and the past President of the USS Pittsburg Reunion group.

Services will be held at Klinger-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM, with social distancing and masking required.  There will be no visitation.

Lonnie was very proud to have served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.  He had the opportunity to go on Honor Flight of the Ozarks a few years ago.  Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to www.honorflightoftheozarks.org
