Obituary

Lewis Laverne Brown, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Nixa, MO on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. He was born on Wednesday, March 13, 1935 in Skidmore, MO to Zepha Ferol Long and Norris Wayne Brown.

Laverne was raised on a farm near Skidmore, MO and named a Star Farmer of Missouri at the young age of 18.  He attended Northwest Missouri State College majoring in Agriculture where he met Evelyn Ruth O'Connell.  They were married on September 18, 1955 and began farming near Skidmore.  In 1964 they moved to Springfield, MO, when Mr. Brown became an Agriculture Feed Representative for Tindle Mills.  He later worked as Territory Feed Sales Manager for Nutrena/Cargill Feeds Company.  With his wife Evelyn, he also owned and managed Barry County Feed Mill in Wheaton, MO.  In 1989, he returned to work for Tindle Mills, retiring in 2000.  Laverne also worked as a medical courier until 2014. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, feeding the birds, and spending time with his family and church friends.

Laverne was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his only brother Charles Wayne Brown.

He is survived by his four daughters Cindy Marquardt (husband Jeff), Julie Brown, Nancy Kirkland (husband Keith) and Shelly Woods (husband Greg), eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and time. Burial will take place at the Rivermonte memorial gardens. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Fair Haven Children's Home or to GYNCA. On line condolences may be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
