Leslie Lee Hughes 88, of Ash Grove, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in Ash Grove, MO. He was born on January 27, 1930 in Willard, Missouri to Lillie and Hobert Hughes.

Leslie was an exhibition boxer after High School. He was a Korean War veteran and earned three bronze service stars. Leslie then owned Springfield Felting Company and after selling the felting business he worked for Central Soya in Springfield as a maintenance man where he later retired. He farmed raising beef cattle all during his other occupations. Leslie also enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved to sing.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (1982); wife, Betty (2013); son in law, Clay Welsh; one sister, Corine Perryman; two brothers, Leo Hughes and Dwight Hughes; one nephew and one step son.

Survivors include his only child, Lanette Welsh; two sisters, Helen Guynn and Alice Stehle and her husband Neal; six nieces; five nephews; three step sons; one step daughter; thirteen step grand children and over thirty step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 15 ^th , 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel (5234 W. State Highway EE Springfield, MO 65802) with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Paul Tindall. Burial will take place in White Chapel Memorial Gardens
