Obituary

Lendell Eugene Baker, age 64, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on April 14, 2025, at Mercy Hospital. Lendell was born on April 30, 1961, in Springfield to Patsy June Baker (Painter) and Wendell R. Baker.

Growing up alongside his brothers, Don and Jeff, Lendell found joy in playing ball at Central High and hanging out with his buddies like Jeff and Steve Moore and Craig Carter. He was a huge fan of the Chiefs and he had a deep love for music—particularly Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hank Williams Jr.—and could often be found enjoying a concert.

Lendell devoted 38 years of his life working at Mercy, where he was known and loved by many, until health challenges required him to step away—a change he found difficult. Despite this, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures: movies, trivia, playing the guitar, fishing, as well as spending time with his family, his beloved dog, and the company of those he held dear.

The loss of his brother Don was especially hard on him, and his health declined rapidly after his passing.

He is survived by his father, Wendell Baker; three nieces, Kristin Baker and her children, Julian Cox and Story Jenkins, Megan Ramsey, her husband, Evan and their daughter, Claire and Rebecca Apple. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Darla Baker, and his significant other, Terry Campbell. Lendell was close with Terry's children, Josh and Holly McFadden, and had a special bond with Josh's daughter, Chevy. His circle of friends included Donny Everett as well as many friends from school and his time at Mercy.

Lendell is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Baker; his brothers, Don and Jeff; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A graveside celebration of Lendell's life will be held on his birthday, April 30th, at 10 a.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery; 5235 W. State Hwy EE. Springfield, MO 65802. All family and friends are invited to come together and honor the life of Lendell.
