Obituary

Laura Annie Emmack, born July 17, 1936, in South Gate, California, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at Castlewood Senior Living in Nixa, Missouri. She was the beloved wife of Donald Dean Emmack, whom she married on December 27, 1968, and the devoted mother of their son, Donald Sinclair Emmack.

Born to Malcolm Donald Sinclair and Violet Vivian Budge at Suburban Hospital, Laura was an only child. Raised in southern California, she dedicated 32 years of her career to the Norwalk La Mirada School District, serving from January 6, 1964, until her retirement on June 22, 1996. It was during her time in California that she met Don, who worked at Long Beach Spring and Forge as an automotive blacksmith. Together, they later purchased the company and successfully managed it for many years.

In retirement, Laura and Don relocated to Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to their son, Donald, his wife, Julie, and their grandsons, Donnie and Trent. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Don, who passed on May 9, 2025. She leaves behind a profound legacy of teaching, hospitality, and faithful service. Laura and Don are fondly remembered for their lasting impact on both her family in California and his in Iowa, having spent cherished time with Don's relatives in Iowa and with Bob and Nancy Sandoval in southern California.

Laura is survived by her son, Donald, and his wife, Julie; grandson Donnie and his wife, Katie; grandson Trent; as well as Don's family, including sister Dorothy Webb of Fairfield, Iowa; brother Dennis (Barb) Emmack of Independence, Missouri; sisters-in-law Betty Emmack of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and Janet Emmack of Edinburgh, Indiana; brother-in-law Dick Kane of Sun Lakes, Arizona; and many extended family members who will forever hold her memory dear.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Klingner-Cope Rivermonte Cemetery on July 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM, followed immediately by a reception at The Vineyard Market in Nixa, Missouri.
