Larry M. Thomas (83) of Joplin Mo disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a loyal friend passed away on Monday November 30, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was born in Miami, Oklahoma on August 16, 1937 to Irvin Troy and Naomi Ann LeMasters Thomas.

He attended Miami public schools and graduated from Miami High Schools in 1955. After a brief time in San Antonio, Larry settled in Wichita, Kansas and joined the Fire Department in 1960 and he retired as a Fire Captain in 1982. After retirement, Larry moved to Joplin Mo where he turned his love of construction into a very successful second career as Larry M. Thomas Construction Company. He developed property and built homes in the Joplin, Carl Junction, Webb City and Branson areas.

Larry is preceded in death by both his parents, as well as his oldest brother Danny (Esther) Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of almost 37 years Carolyn Thomas, his children Terri (Lindell) Franz, Wichita, Randy (Jennifer) Burnum, Tayor, TX, Kellie (Kent) Evans,Golden City, Mo, Sherri (Mike) Kennedy, Atlanta, KS Shawn (Misty) Burnum, Leawood, KS and Suzanne (Scott) Grieve, Mt.Washington, KY. Larry's grandchildren Luke (Renata) Franz, Breanna (Josh) Steele, Linsey (Albert) Wills, Grant (Sadie) Heithaus, Megan McClure, Randilynn (Jason) Reel, Rilee (Mathew) Svinky, Angelique Olsen, Siobhan (Jared) Rudacille, Meggie (Matthew) Jenny, Trenton Burnum, Joshua and Caleb Grieve, Jacob Burnum and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will held from 11:30 to 1 pm on Friday December 11, 2020 at the Forest Park Babpist Church in Joplin Mo with funeral services to follow at 1pm. Burial will take place at Rivermonte Memoral Gardens in Springfield Mo.
