Larry Eugene Carter, 61, of Willard, MO passed away
on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Cox
South Medical
Center from complications
of heart failure. He was born in Springfield,
MO on Tuesday, June 14, 1960 to
Diana Redden and Teddy Carter.
After graduating from Willard High School,
Larry served 4 years in the Army, was stationed in Germany and earned an honorable
discharge. He went to work in his parent's business, Ted's TV service, in sales
and as the rental manager. After the business closed when his parents retired,
he worked to help re-establish the electrical infrastructure in New Orleans following
Hurricane Katrina and did other work in the construction industry. Following
the deaths of his parents followed by his wife, Larry settled into a fairly solitary
existence and lived out his years on the farm in Willard where he grew up. He
enjoyed doing mechanical and carpentry work and other projects on the farm. Larry
also took in and cared for a number of feral cats. He'll be remembered as a
good and kind man with multiple talents and a quirky sense of humor.
Larry was predeceased by his
wife Pam, his parents and one brother Gary Carter.
He is survived by one brother
Jerry Carter (wife Deirdre) of Massachusetts,
one stepson Tyler (partner Kira) and their two children of Battlefield, MO and two
granddaughters Sara and Mary of Pittsburgh, PA.
A visitation will be held
from 1-2 PM on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral
Home at White Chapel, 5234 W.
State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO 65802 with funeral services to follow
at 2 PM. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the D.A.V. Auxiliary Unit 11, 2525 E. Division St., Springfield, MO 65803. Online
