Kenneth (Kenny) Lloyd Ray

April 9, 1928 – May 10, 2019

Born to Lon A Ray and Susan (Bailey) Ray at home in Springfield Missouri.

Kenneth's main career was the transportation industry: logging over 2,000,000 miles over a span of 60 years. He started with a team of mules working with his dad and uncles. The Ray men were instrumental in building Springfield. He was also a heavy equipment operator.

Kenny married Sue Courtois March 21, 2014. They have shared 5 amazing, loving devoted years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Albert L Ray, sisters Marietta Hodges, Frances Nalbone, Martha Roberson, infant son Phillip Steven Ray, grandson Jerome H Renehan III, granddaughter Beth Ann (Ray) Reynolds, great-granddaughter Andrea Marie (Mackesty) Licht, son-in-law Jack D. Parrish, stepson Leroy Courtois

Besides his wife Sue, whom he cherished, Kenny is survived by his four children. Shirley J. Parrish Marion Illinois, Kenneth David Ray Elkland Missouri, Judith E (Ray) Ramel Springfield Missouri, Lonnie Lloyd Ray (Sherry Rose) Marshfield Missouri.

Besides his 4 children 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren survive.

Kenny loved them all and spent as much time with them as possible as often as he could. There were many holiday and birthday celebrations. Many traveled miles to spend time with him.

Kenny also loved his step children. He spent a lot of time with them. He enjoyed all of the family outings and celebrations.

He is survived by one step daughter Patricia Thurston (Garry). One stepson Terry Courtois (Marsha). One step daughter in law Marriann Courtois.

Kenny has 10 step grandchildren, 21 step great-grandchildren and 7 step great-great grandchildren.

Kenny held special bonds with each and everyone in his family.

Kenny is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Kenny had many special friends whose relationships he held dear.

Kenny also, in recent years, totally surrendered his life to our Lord Jesus Christ. Though a believer in Christ most of his life, he took a serious turn to live a Godly life the last several years. Kenny was always a moral man. He knew it took more than that to enter Heaven. He took that step of faith and is now in Heaven with family and friends gone before him. His personal relationship with Jesus was precious to him and he lived it before us.

He'll want to see all of us there when our time comes. Please seriously consider the invitation.
