Dr. Kenneth L Foster of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully in his sleep the early morning of July 20th, 2016. Kenneth was born on April 8th, 1928 in York, NE where he grew up and married his beloved wife, Bonnie (Smith) Foster on June 19th, 1949.
Kenneth received his Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics from York College and his Masters and EdD degrees in Education from the University of Nebraska. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II and served his country with pride and honor and was a life-long educator serving roles as both a teacher and administrator in several locations. He spent the final 27 years of his career in education as the Assistant Principal of Burris Laboratory School, which is the training ground for education students studying at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. He also served his community as a member of the Indiana Civil Defense Board and the Chairman of Trustees at the United Methodist Church in Theodosia, MO. Kenneth had several passions that occupied his free time, including building and flying model airplanes, restoring classic Mustangs, creating stained glass windows, camping and fixing just about everything that needed it.
Dr Foster will be remembered by his innate ability to coach and improve people as individuals by simultaneously being firm yet gentle; formidable yet kind; and challenging their fears and capabilities while encouraging them to succeed. His balanced approach to leadership and teaching gave his children, students and colleagues the tools and confidence to grow more than they had thought imaginable.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Bonnie Foster, daughters Julie (and Monty) Peyton, Cyndi (and Bob) Leedy, and Connie Denton and sons Doug (and Michele) Foster and Greg Foster; grandchildren Rachel Johnson, Joe Leedy, Garrett Denton, Chad Foster, Diana Leedy, Kyla Denton, Emory Foster and Tommy Foster; and great grandchildren Haley Johnson, Natalie Denton, Grant Denton and Seth Denton.
A reception in Kenneth''s honor will be held at The Fremont Senior Living community in Springfield, MO on Tuesday, July 26th at 2 PM.
