Kenneth Eugene
Edgington
May 17, 1947 — Sep 11, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved husband and father, Kenneth Eugene Edgington, at the age of seventy-nine. A resident of the Springfield and Willard communities, he peacefully passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at Cox South Hospital.
Ken, also known as Kenny in his youth, was born May 17, 1947, in rural Dadeville, Missouri, to Roscoe and Marjorie Edgington. He enjoyed a robust country life with his sisters, Faye, Gayle, and Betty, including the time he accidentally ran over the outhouse with a tractor. He loved hunting and fishing with his friends every free chance he was afforded.
After graduating from Ash Grove High School in 1966, he took a job at the Lily-Tulip Cup factory, where he met his future wife, Donna Sue Peacock. They were married March 1, 1968. The couple were blessed with their first daughter, Joy Lynn later that year and another, Keely Dawn in 1980. He later became an independent contractor carpet layer for forty years.
Like many of his generation, he enjoyed a good western novel or movie, but his real passion was spending time in the great outdoors, which he considered his version of church. He was never more at peace than when visiting the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, taking in the expansive vistas.
Ken is survived by his wife, Donna Edgington of Willard, Missouri; a daughter, Keely Edgington, and son-in-law, Beau Williams; and two spirited granddaughters, Lula and Adair Williams, of Charleston, South Carolina, who brought him great joy in his golden years. He is also survived by a half-sister, Patsy Russell of Clever, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews throughout Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Lynn Edgington; his sisters Betty Beasley, Faye Page, and Gayle Edgington; his parents, Roscoe and Marjorie Edgington; his in-laws, John and Margaret Peacock; and his grandparents, Lonnie and Lula Grider, and Frank and Orah Edgington.
A graveside service will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Bob Sharp. An informal visitation will be held the previous evening, Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Klinger-Cope Funeral Home at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, located at 5234 West State Highway EE, Springfield, Missouri 65802.
John 14:3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
Psalm 23:6: "Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
