Katherine "Katie" Eudora Avery (Payne), 95, of Ash Grove, MO passed away peacefully at Ash Grove Healthcare on Saturday February, 02, 2019. She was born October 28, 1923 in Springfield, MO to Percy and Minnie (Mobley) Payne.

Katie graduated from Senior High School, Springfield, MO and went on to attend Draughn's Business College earning her two year certificate. She retired from secretarial work. She married Wallace Avery on December 31, 1943 and to this union they were blessed with two children, Connie and Darrell. She loved to sew, cook, play the piano, going fishing and her horses. She and Wallace raised Fox Trotter horses and often reminisced about those days and how she loved her horses.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Wallace. Left to mourn her passing are her children; Connie Underwood (Wayne) and Darrell Avery (Alice), grandchildren; Julie Bruer (Jeff), Darin Avery (Deborah), Dana Underwood (Melanie) and Derek Underwood (Whitney), 5 great-grandchildren a sister Roberta Prosser and sister – in – law Lavena Murrell.

Graveside services will be held Thursday February 7 ^th 2019 at 10:00 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens (in inclement weather this may be changed to a chapel service inside Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel).
