Karen Richmond, 57, of Springfield, MO passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2023. She was born on May 1, 1966, in Springfield, MO to Joe Richmond and Beverley Wood.

Karen grew up in Jefferson City, before moving to New Hartford, New York at 12 years old. Karen graduated from New Hartford High School and attended Buffalo State University. She worked for Met Life before relocating back to Springfield where she was employed with United Health Care for the last 25 years. Karen had a big personality and enjoyed a spirited discussion on politics or the latest current events, as well as sharing her love of books and movies. Karen was a published author. Her book, Capitol Punishment, combined her love of writing and politics. Karen was outspoken, witty, sarcastic, and loved her big crazy family. Karen did not have any children of her own, but became a surrogate mother and grandmother to her niece, Aimee Thayer, and two great nephews, Harold Brown and Kaeleb Clark, whom she adored. They were her greatest joy. She indulged Kaeleb's love of animals as she went from a crazy cat lady to a dog mom to Whampus and Shanook.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Karen is survived by her father, Joe Richmond as well as her two sisters, Susan Thayer and Sherita Teti and brother in law Chris Teti. She leaves behind her cherished nieces, Aimee Thayer, Cassie Teti, Alyssa Teti, Rachel Teti and Amanda Lewis. She also leaves several great nephews and nieces, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on September 9, 2023 at the Union Hill Church of Christ, 865 N. Nicholas, Nixa, MO 65714. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the animal charity of your choice. Online condolences can be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
