Karen Gammill, 68, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully at Glendale Gardens on October 12, 2017. She was born September 28, 1949 in Exeter, CA to Robert and Thelma Laurie. Karen was the ninth of twelve children.

She married the love of her life, Dennis Gammill, on January 31, 1975 and they were married for 30 years before his passing in 2005. Karen graduated from nursing school as an LPN. She loved being a nurse, but she loved teaching her profession more. Karen was known to take the newly graduated nurses under her wing and show them the ropes. She was also known to have hard nose stubbornness when it came to teaching the skills of nursing but she always did it in a loving and compassionate manner. Karen was a spitfire; she was very boisterous and considered everyone a friend. She also loved to garden, crochet and read.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several siblings. Surviving her are 4 siblings, two very special friends; Sally Edwards and Cindy Valente, several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Karen''s passing will leave a void in the hearts of many.

The family will be joining the Glendale Gardens Celebration of Life service held October 31st at 10 am, Springfield, MO. Memorial Donations may be made in Karen''s name to Glendale Gardens Nursing and Rehab Center Auxillary Fund 3535 East Cherokee St, Springfield, MO 65809.
