Obituary

Judith (Judi) Elaine Ballweber-Ruban, 60, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She was born in Cooperstown, ND on Saturday, November 24, 1962 to Sharon L. Hanson and James J. Ballweber.

Judi was raised in Finley, ND (1962-1970); Circle, MT (1970-1974), and Valdez, Palmer, and Kenai, Alaska (1974-1981). She had a keen interest in nursing from an early age and missions from her teen years. She served on mission trips in Ft. Yukon, Beaver, Stevens, and the Aleutian chain in Alaska; India, and Russia. Judi became a Registered Nurse from Burge School of Nursing, Springfield, MO (1981-1984) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Providence Hospital, Anchorage, AK in 1988. After which she was a nurse and A/G MAPS missionary in Nome, AK (1985-1995). She then earned her master's degree in Nurse Midwife from UM, Minneapolis, MN from 1995-1997. She was a Certified Nurse Midwife (Nurse Practitioner), Soldotna, AK 1997-2000. Her desire to serve as a career missionary brought her to Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Springfield, MO where she earned her M.Div. 2000-2003. She became an Assemblies of God World Missionary in 2003 serving in Russia and Ukraine since. As a missionary, she worked with Christian Mobile Medical Team in Ukraine, Teen Challenge, and Evangelical Theological Seminary in Kiev and other ministries. She was ordained with the Alaska Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God in May 2009. Judi married Volodymyr Ruban on August 12 (legal wedding) and August 15 (church wedding), 2014 in Kiev, Ukraine. She was working on her Ph.D. in intercultural studies at AGTS when she passed away. Judi loved God and always wanted to be "God's girl". She loved people and had long-lasting friends. She was an excellent, compassionate nurse who delivered hundreds of babies. She had a gift of drawing young women and disciplining them to become more like Christ. She was loyal, kind, and devoted. She was deeply spiritual and had a faith that was unshakeable to the end.

Judi was proceeded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband, Volodymyr Vasyliovych Ruban; her mother, Sharon L. Ballweber; her siblings, Steven Paul (Christi) Ballweber; Janelle (Jeff) Nelson; Jolene (David) Mercer; Marcus Ballweber; Jon (Tracy) Ballweber; numerous nieces and nephews. She was well loved by all.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Central Assembly of God Church, 1301 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802 with funeral services to follow at 11 AM.
