Joyce Guttroff, 88, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 in
Springfield, Mo.

Joyce was greatly loved by her family and multitude of friends. She was born on
Sunday, September 29, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles and Jeanette Weatherill.
As a teenager in Long Island, she met the love of her life, Harry Guttroff. They dated for
five years and were married in 1956. After being transferred to St. Louis, Missouri, they
moved to Springfield in 1971. Harry and Joyce remained there for the remainder of their
lives.

Joyce was the block mother, and her house was an open door. She was always there
for all the children and her friends. Famous for her hugs, she spread love and kindness
to all. Joyce volunteered many years at Disney Elementary School as a librarian and
picture lady. She also worked at the Book Nook, a children's bookstore.

Joyce was adored by her three daughters, Cindy Youngblood (Skip), Beth Kennedy
(Troy) , and Katie Ellsworth (Andy); six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023 a visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. followed by a
Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. in the Rivermonte Chapel, 4500 S. Lone Pine,
Springfield, Mo. 65804. Committal services will follow in the Rivermonte Memorial

The girls ask that everyone wear bright, cheerful colors to celebrate Joyce and all are
welcomed to share their favorite stories.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital www.stjude.org.

We want to thank everyone at The Manor at Elfindale who gave Joyce so much
love and kindness when she lived there.
