Joseph Raymond Rainey, 69, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born August 25, 1944 to Ike and Florence (Munday) Rainey.
Music was one of the most important things in his life, his band played for Springfield Park Days and in the 70''s, he played in Operation Bread Basket in Denton, TX for TWU and loved sports especially football. He worked for many years for Steak-n-Shake on Glenstone. Joseph loved his family and was a father figure to many of his nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers James Rainey and Vernie Rainey; 3 sisters Mollie Dodd, Henrietta Mosley and Carrie Cooper.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley; 2 daughters Christina Rainey and Lanetta Rainey; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Vera Williams and E.T. "Edna" Adams; a special friend Rap; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel and services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the chapel. Burial in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
