Johnny Young, 66 of Springfield, was born on September 5, 1948 to Cecil and Herma (Smith) Young. He passed away on July 22, 2015.
He married Barbara Brigance on 3/15/1968 in Springfield and served in the Army during Vietnam. He coached and played baseball and softball, was an avid quail hunter and fisherman, president of the American Legion Baseball in Willard and president of the Everton Saddle Club for several years. He loved to go camping and trail ridding. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Shields; brother, Robert Young; son, Randy Young and daughter-in-law, Ranee Porter Young.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter, Missy (Darren) Thornton of Fair Grove; 2 sisters, Mary (Gary) Longenecker of Nixa and Carol (Bill) Griffin of Willard; 2 brothers, Jim (Juanita) Young of Springfield and Rick Young of Billings; sister-in-law, Marty Young of Springfield; brother-in-law, Jim Shields of Springfield; 4 grandchildren, Brooke, Bailey, Creek and Bryce; 2 step grandchildren, Najee and Derrion and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 27, 2015 from 5 till 7 P.M., at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO. Services will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M in the funeral home. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
