Johnnie Lou (Newcomb) Summers, 84 of Springfield passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Ozark Nursing and Care Center. She was born on January 18, 1928 in Wingo, KY to Noah and Velma Newcomb.

Johnnie married Harvey L. Summers in 1946. She was a homemaker but also worked as Custodian at the Central Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon, IL. Johnnie loved gardening and home interior decorating.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, a son, Keith; 2 brothers, James and Howard Newcomb and a sister, Eloise Steed.

Johnnie is survived by her sons and their wives, John Michael and Linda Summers and Richard Lee and Holly Summers; two daughters and their husbands, Sherry Ann and Gary Blumenstock and Patricia Marie and Barry Johns; 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and a sister, Joanna Newcomb.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
