John William Dowell, Jr, 84, of Springfield, MO passed away on Tuesay, March 27, 2018. He was born on Thursday, March 15, 1934 in Elsberry, MO to John William Dowell, Sr. and Esther Lynn Evans.

John was a carpenter by trade and retired as a farmer. He loved hunting, fishing and horses.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his son Terance Brent Dowell.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Margaret Ray (Pendley) Dowell, a daughter Stacey Willis (husband David), a step-daughter Eaelene Massy (husband Dale), seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 11 am – 12 pm at the Maranatha Chapel, 233 E. Norton Rd., Springfield, MO 65803 with funeral services, conducted by Chaplain Darryl Paddock, to follow at noon. Military honors will be conducted at 2 pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
