Obituary

James Leroy Baugher, age 80, of Springfield, Missouri passed away the morning of Tuesday, December 6, 2022. He was born on Monday, February 9, 1942 in Centerville, Iowa to Verna Harriat Parcel and Elmer Leroy Baugher.

Jim moved to Springfield, Missouri a few years later and remained there the rest of his life. He worked hard most of his life and would do absolutely anything for someone in need, especially his family. Jim worked at Kerr-McGee in Springfield treating railroad ties with creosote for some 34 years before retiring. He was married to the love of his life, Arminta Mae Snodgrass for 57 years, having been together for 64 years. They had two daughters, Susan Renee and Christie Ann. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. This love was passed on to his family. Many summers were spent camping with his family and he could often be found at the lake. He would entertain the children by walking along the lakeshore, looking for special rocks and shells. He loved animals and passed that love onto his daughters and grandchildren. Jim was a very devoted grandfather and great-grandfather and many times said that children were more important than anything. He taught them how to fish, what bait to use, and to throw back the fish that they weren't able to keep. He was their best friend and always had time for them, even through this illness. He loved gardening, and passed that love onto his granddaughter Heather, giving her tips along the way. He also encouraged her to take any of his flowers and succulents that she wanted.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Arminta Baugher; two daughters Susan Plemmons and her husband David, and Christie Brown and her husband Christopher. He is also survived by his very loved grandchildren Maegan Kensinger, Heather Kendrick and her husband Jake, Evan Plemmons, and Jackson Brown and his partner Tiara. Jim had two great-granddaughters that were the light of his life and could bring joy to him on the toughest day, Luna Mae and Rosalie Ann. He is also survived by his sister Judy West and her husband Charles and an host of family members.
