Obituary

Janice Kay Sikes died peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at home in Springfield, MO in the loving arms of her children at the age of 70 years old. She was born on Thursday, August 26, 1948 in Dora, MO to James Ezra Owen and Margrett Jane Moss.

Janice married Kenneth Lee Sikes on January 23, 1970.  In 1980 she began working at Venture where she continued to work until she retired in 1993. No words can explain how wonderful a woman, wife, mother, and friend Janice was. Janice spent her time being a devoted wife and mother, her greatest pride was her grandchildren. She always seemed to know what you needed before you knew you needed it. She loved to care for people, often letting nieces and nephews stay for extended times. Janice also loved to cook and never wanted to let anyone leave her home hungry. She was loved by many.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters Omega Howard (husband Robert), Burdella Davis and Etta Young  (husband Aught) and a twin brother James Owen all of whom she missed greatly.

She is survived by her son Dewey Sikes of the home his children Justin, Xavier, Matthew and Travis, her daughter Melinda Johns (husband James) of Centerton, AR their children Kaitlyn, Riley, and Tyler (wife Melanie) and their children Jackson and Emilyn, brother Richard Owen (wife Darlene) of Springfield, sister Mary Collins (husband Ival) of Caulfield, MO, Brother-in- law Frank Davis of Highlandville, MO, sister-in-law Delores Owen of Sparta, MO and countless nieces, nephews, friends and family.
