IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Sue
Workman
September 6, 1949 – October 31, 2024
Janet Sue Workman, age 75, of Republic Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 31, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on September 6, 1949, at Burge Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, Janet was the beloved daughter of Claude Richardson Jr. and Betty Mortizky.
Janet grew up in Springfield, graduating from Central High School, and began a life full of love and laughter when she married Stanley Ray Workman on July 28, 1972, in Oklahoma. Together, they built a family and lifetime of memories. Known for her loud boisterous personality, Janet was a warm, loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother whose presence brightened every room she entered.
She took pride in her hobbies, including gardening, cooking, blanket-making, and fishing. Janet's sense of humor was a defining part of who she was, and her infectious laugh brought joy to those around her. She and Stanley would often say, "We may not have always done the right thing, but always did it together," a sentiment that captured her steadfast approach to life and love.
Janet was a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was always there for friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Workman; her children, Angela (Workman) Daugherty and Ray Workman; and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan Daugherty, Taylor Daugherty, Krystal (Workman) Gann, and Sabrina (Workman) Perry. She is also survived by her siblings, Terry (Richardson) Hicks and Mike Richardson; her dear friend Lois Gregory; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Richardson Jr. and Betty Mortizky, her aunts, Vivan Ray, Mary Wiles, Dolores Wilson, and Elizabeth Richardson, and her pets, Maggie and Sadie, who were like family to her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to St. Croix Hospice Care, as well as to all her friends and family, for their kindness and support during this time. Janet's legacy of laughter, love, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family request Memorial Donations in Memory of Janet Workman to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: www.stjude.org.
