Jane Dukewits, born in Andrews, TX, on March 7, 1916, married to John Dukewits on July 17, 1944, passed away in her home on August 6, 2012, surrounded by her family. She lived an amazing life!
Jane always said she wanted to live to 100, she almost made it. She lived making all of her family believe that she would and that she might even outlive us. Jane loved everything about her life. In the past few months, she talked about her grandparents in Texas, traveling by covered wagon in the "olden days", her childhood, her first car, her different jobs, her time working at Dillards Department Store in Springfield, MO, her marriage and family. Jane said that the "happiest" times of her life were raising her five children.
Jane also enjoyed her vacations so much and spent a lot of time remembering the trips we took during our childhood as well as the recent trips that she enjoyed. She loved the ocean and in the past few years, regretted that she did not take one more trip to the ocean.
Jane was steadfast in her role as a daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother even when her journey was uphill, or the path was rough or smooth. She was strong in facing the trials that were a part of her life. Often she did not tell us what she endured, but we would find out from others. If her life were a tapestry, it would be rich with color, and very artistic yet the back would show the intricacies of the pattern that was woven out of the experiences of her life.
Jane is survived by John Dukewits, Jr., John Dukewits III, Jennifer Graziano and Nick, and their mother, Karen. Janet and David Byars, Ryan and Kirsten, Alyssa, Kaden and Avery, Ed and Ashley DelMastro and Edward IV, James Dukewits, Jerome and Charla Dukewits, Josh and Amy, Lindsay and Steven, Juliette''s children: Daniel and James and their children.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband John and her daughter Juliette.
The Jane Dukewits family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Access Hospice Care Team that made her last months comfortable. Donations may be made in her memory to the same.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave. Springfield, MO 65804, with services to be private.
