Obituary

James "Jim" Philip Ziverk, age 66, of Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Jim was born on March 24, 1959, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Wilma Ann and James Harry Ziverk. A native son of Oklahoma and longtime resident of the Ozarks, he found his greatest peace in the woods. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, marksmanship, caring for dogs, and offering a helping hand to anyone in need.

Trained as a professional welder and skilled in a range of construction techniques, Jim built a career that carried him from iron worker to construction superintendent. He took great pride in pointing out the many structures he had helped to build or repair, each one a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship.

On June 27, 1981, Jim married the love of his life, Ruth Marie, in Springfield, Missouri. Together, they made their home in Nixa, MO, where they raised their daughter, Jennie Marie Ziverk Carr. After receiving a life-saving kidney transplant, Jim was blessed with the chance to walk Jennie down the aisle when she married Justin Andrew Carr in 2007. In 2022, Jim and Marie moved to Texas to be closer to their grandsons, Maxwell Jefferson Carr and Patrick Jackson Carr, whose love of setting off fireworks with their Gigi was only outmatched by the joy and laughter they brought him.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Ruth Marie Ziverk; his daughter, Jennie and son-in-law, Justin; his cherished grandsons, Maxwell and Patrick; his brothers, Johnny and Brad Ziverk; his sister, Debby Owens; his aunt, Lavada Voss; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and James Ziverk, and his brother, Larry Ziverk.

Jim lived by the words, "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right." From helping a stranger change a flat tire, to giving his whole heart to his family, to brightening any room with a ready laugh and unexpected joke, Jim lived his life right—honest, kind, capable, and full of love.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave, Springfield, Missouri.

In honor of Jim's love for dogs and his commitment to helping others, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Rescue One Animal Shelter. https://rescueonespringfield.com/ways-to-donate/
