James "Jim" Gott, 77 of Strafford passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at home with his family by his side. He was born October 16, 1938 in Springfield, Mo to Clarence and Opal Lois Hall Gott. Jim graduated from Central High School in 1956, entering the Army in 1957 to 1961 where he worked on helicopters in Atlanta. He married Shirley Jean Uchtman in Harrison, AR on July 28, 1966 and to this union four children were born.
Jim accepted the Lord as his savior when he was 28 years old, and had been a member of the Springfield Bible Church. He continued his career driving a dump truck for Masters & Jackson, then he and his brother worked for Springfield Ready Mix, hauling gravel until he went to work for Campbell 66 as a mechanic. When they closed he started Gott Trucking and took great pride in providing for his family and loved driving his dump truck.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Samuel Hall and Rosa Langley and a brother Frank Gott. He is survived by his wife, two sons Jeffrey Gott (Tamitha) and Travis Gott; two daughters JoAnna Davis (Chad) and Teressa Huelskamp (Chris), a daughter in law Amanda Gott, twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren with one on the way and his faithful companion "Rascal" the cat and a host of family and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Klingner-Cope at Midtown, 1635 N. Benton, Springfield with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Family has requested donations be made in Jim''s name to a charity of you choice.
