Jim Dukewits, born September 14, 1951, passed away on October 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family after a three week battle with cancer.
Jim served his country in the Air Force, served as a firefighter for the city of Springfield and served the Springfield School District as a bus driver. He had a passion for cars and airplanes and had many great adventures with both. Jim said that he had a full life and had no regrets.
Jim is survived by John Dukewits; Dave and Janet Byars; and Jerome and Charla Dukewits. As well as many nieces and nephews, John Dukewits III, Jennifer, Nick and Izzy Graziano; Ryan and Kirsten; Alyssa; Kaden; Avery Byars; Ed and Ashley; Edward Delmastro; Josh and Amy Dukewits and Lindsay Dukewits.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jane Dukewits and his sister, Juliette Epps. Jimmy we love you. You were a wonderful brother and uncle and well loved by your family and friends. We know you will always watch over us as you soar high above.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Jimmy''s life will follow at George''s Steakhouse from 3-5 p.m.
