Obituary

James "Jim" Deemer, 84, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Born June 6, 1941, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Jim was the cherished son of Robert and Adelaide Deemer.

While attending West Virginia Wesleyan College, Jim met the love of his life, Dianne, and the two were married in 1963, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted more than six decades. Both Jim and Dianne were proud and active members of the First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City, VA. and were among the original founding families.

Jim dedicated his professional life to Federal Government service, culminating in his role as Comptroller of the Office of Thrift Supervision. His career reflected both his gift with numbers and his steadfast commitment to public service.

After retiring, Jim embraced new adventures, working several retail jobs simply for the fun of it. One of his favorites was working at Truckers Toy Store, where his gift of gab and love of pickup trucks made him a perfect fit.

Jim was an avid sports enthusiast, spending years bowling, playing softball and golf. Sundays, however, were reserved for football. He loved the Washington Redskins, going to countless games while living near DC. Lately, he developed a soft spot for the Kansas City Chiefs. Beyond cheering from the couch, Jim delighted in low-stakes, high- volume football wagering with his friends and family. Making his dollar bets or playing in the weekly football pool gave him great joy even in his final days.

Jim took great pride in his home and yard and spent countless hours with Dianne to make it the beautiful place it is today. Jim loved helping Dianne with their many bird feeders making sure their cardinals, bluebirds and robins were always well fed. Jim was also an animal lover and would make sure their many dogs and cats throughout the years were well cared for.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his older brother, Robert (Buzz) Deemer and wife Sherry and twin brother Jay Deemer and wife Pam. He is survived by his wife Dianne, daughter Liz Conner (Tim), son Jamie Deemer (Christine), three grandchildren Emma Balk(Jason), Abby Conner and Colby Rey Deemer, one great- grandson Brady Balk and seven nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. In memory of Jim, please consider a donation to your favorite charity.
