Obituary

Jack James White, 85, of Springfield, MO passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife Joan White and son Marcus White of Springfield, MO. Jack was born February 4, 1929 in Newton, Iowa. The son of Jim and Goldie White, he grew up and attended school in Houston and Cabool, MO.

Jack was one of 6 children; 3 brothers Cecil, Keith, Gary and 2 sisters Freda and Gloria; who all proceeded him on the journey home to Heaven.

Jack was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, where he earned the rank of staff sergeant. Jack proposed to Joan Young of Mt. Grove, MO on their 2nd date and were married April 14, 1951 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together.

Jack loved sports and played basketball for his school and U.S. Air Force teams. Jack had a passion for the outdoors especially fishing and camping as well as golf. He was a member and president of the Southwest district square dance association in the 1970''s. He retired from Kraft Food''s in 1987 after 31 years of service.

Jack was a loving husband and father with a great sense of humor, who was a friend to all and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jack will be missed by his loving family and many friends who lives he has blessed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte with a graveside service to follow at 1 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in honor of Jack to the Sherman House in care of The Arc of the Ozarks 1501 East Pythian Springfield, MO 65802.
