Jack Murray, 87, of Springfield, MO, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 with his wife and children by his side. He was born on January 22, 1927 to Nathaniel and Gladys Murray in Springfield, MO.
He attended Senior High School in Springfield, MO. Jack served in the Army during WWII, and was stationed in Germany and Austria. He worked at National Auto Supply for 21 years. He then worked for City Utilities Power Plant for 26 years from which he retired as a master electrician. Jack was a member of the Masonic Order, United #5, Past Patron and 50 year member of Eastern Star, Past Royal Patron of Jewel Court #16 of Amaranth, and former member of Scottish Rite, and 64 year member of South Side Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Gladys Murray, two brothers, Charles and Carl, one sister, May, and one daughter, Josephine.
He is survived by his wife who has been the love of his life for 64 years, Audrey, his daughters, Elizabeth Lowe of Kansas City, MO, Margaret Crumly of Hallsville, MO, Katherine Glotfelty of Kansas City, MO, Rebecca Wilton of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jacquelyn Englind of Springfield, MO, and their spouses, grandchildren, Bethany, Andy, Daniel, Carrie, Audra, Jacob, Caleb, Emily, Seth, Zane, Ethan, Jared, Emily, Drew, and Melissa, and 8 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at
South Side Baptist Church, 465 S. Grant, Springfield, MO. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bud Everett, Pastor James Adams, and Pastor Gary Crumly officiating. Military Honors and burial will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at a later date.
