Ila Mae Gibbons, 94, of Springfield, MO passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. She was born on Monday, April 2, 1928 in Lyman, NE to Morris and Leota McQueen.

Ila lived a life full of love and happiness enjoyed with her numerous friends and family. She grew up in Grandview, WA before marrying her husband, Raymond Eugene Gibbons and moving to Springfield in 1952. Eventually, she and Ray enjoyed retired life on a small farm in Rogersville where they loved playing with her grandkids, caring for their many dogs and cats, and had a passion for baking. Ila became heavily involved in her church including her Sunday school group, lunch bunch and fun gals. Among her favorite loves was her small Maltese dog named Maggie May.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Linda Gibbons and one brother Morris.

Ila is survived by her son Gary Gibbons, one former daughter-in-law Marlane Gibbons, two sisters Tootie and Snookie, two grandchildren Chad Gibbons and Jennifer Murphy and three great-grandchildren Thadius Gibbons, Layla Murphy and Rachel Murphy.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Schweitzer United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Sunshine St., Springfield, MO 65804 with Celebration of Life services to follow at 11 AM. Burial will take place at the Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to honor Ila's love of animals and her little dog Maggie by donating to Rescue One, 1927-B E. Bennett St., Springfield, MO 65804.
