Hollis E. Booth, 87, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, with his daughters at his bedside. Hollis was the oldest child born to Roscoe and Marie (Higginbotham) Booth in Billings, Mo on February 26, 1931.

After graduating from Senior High School in 1949 Hollis joined the US Navy where he served on the USS Thomas Jefferson. He married Leona Turner of Springfield on May 29, 1954. They built a home and settled down in Battlefield where they lived until her death in 1975. He was a member of Wilson Creek Baptist Church. Hollis retired from Hermann Lumber Co. in 1996 and spent his time fishing, gardening and raising miniature donkeys. His pride and joy was his grandchildren. He could always be found cheering them on from the sidelines of their sporting events.

He is survived by two daughters, Kim Nuñez  and husband, Arturo of Shawnee, KS and Peggy Russell and husband, Steve, Rogersville; grandsons, Timothy and Philip Nuñez and Ethan Russell; step grandchildren, Pablo and Arturo Nuñez, Priscila Podleski and William Russell; brother, Gene Booth, Willard; sister, Joan Highfill, Springfield and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Leona and a brother, Larry Booth of Springfield.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4-6pm at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel (5234 West State Highway EE, Springfield, MO). with a funeral service to be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
