Hilda I. Gould daughter of the late Claud and Gertrude (Simpson) Couch, was born in Milan, MO on March 21, 1915 and passed from this life on January 22, 2014 at The Manor at Elfindale.
On October 9, 1938, she was married to Dr. William A. Gould of Clayton, MO, who preceded her in death on May 27, 1995. Hilda graduated from the Laughlin School of Nursing. She and Dr. Gould moved to Iberia, MO where they worked together serving Iberia and the surrounding communities for 40 years. After retirement, they moved to Springfield, MO and lived there for over 26 years. She was a member of the South Haven Baptist Church.
She will be greatly missed and remembered for her great strength and unconditional love. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Her whole life was devoted to the well being of her family and was a role model to her children and grandchildren.
Hilda is survived by a daughter, Terry Griffin and husband Ronnie, daughter-in-law, Connie Gould; granddaughters, Kim Debayo-Doherty, Laura Rolufs, Melissa Gould, and Claudia Griffin and seven great grandchildren; and a sister Claudia Leonard. She was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Gould; a grandson, Barry Griffin; four sisters and a brother.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ryan Palmer officiating, under the directions of Klingner-Cope at Midtown.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested contributions be made in Hilda''s name to the William Gould Memorial Scholarship Fund, Willard High School, 500 E. Kime St., Willard, MO 65781.
