Helen B. Bellinger, age 94, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2015 with family by her side.

Helen was born, October 29, 1920, in Whitmer, West Virginia, the eldest of three children of coal mining parents, Jason A. Porter and Edith McDaniel Porter.

Helen graduated from Zion Bible Institute in 1942, married Reverend Charles Campbell and entered a life of ministry. Two sons were born in New York. In 1947, while pastoring in Springville, New York, Reverend Campbell died in a work related accident.

Helen moved to Springfield Missouri where she met Reverend Paul E. Bellinger and they were married July 28, 1950. A daughter completed their family and together they continued a life of pastoral and evangelistic ministry being ordained ministers of the Assemblies of God.

Helen graduated from Evangel College (now Evangel University) in 1972. She was a member of Central Assembly and the Pioneer Praise Choir for many years.

Helen was an early manager of the Gospel Publishing House Bookstore. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and later a Brownie Scouts leader. She was an avid flower gardner and specialized in raising beautiful African Violets. She was an award winning floral designer and became a national African Violet Judge.

Helen took pottery classes at Southwest Missouri State (now MSU) and learned the art of making ceramics from Johnna Wheeler at Central Assembly. She learned to make porcelain dolls under the direction of Mary Ann Cummings.

Helen was an excellent cook and baker. She specialized in decorated cakes, especially wedding cakes. She loved to take her grandchildren berry picking which made wonderful goodies for the family. She provided ministry and care for elderly people in their home for nearly 20 years. But most of all is her legacy passed to the grandchildren and great grandchildren. The grandchildren''s fondest memories are Christmas caroling with their grandparents and choosing a special ornament from their Christmas tree each year.

Helen was a creative writer having studied Creative Writing at Drury University. She joined the International Society of Poetry and became a published writer of historical events relating to her family.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; brothers John (Marjorie) Porter and Howard (Lois) Porter; grandson Christopher Campbell and great granddaughter Christina Campbell. She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Paul E. Bellinger; sons, Charles Wesley (Ethel) Campbell and David Jason (Debie) Campbell; daughter Melody Rae (Richard) Hill; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Maranatha Chapel, 233 E Norton, Springfield, MO. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
