Helen Beth (Gorman) Kern passed away in Springfield Monday, December 26, 2022. She was 88 years old.

Helen was born in Pearl, MO in 1934. She attended Willard School from the first grade through high school. Helen graduated valedictorian of her class and was a competitive athlete. She carried that competitive spirit throughout life. She loved playing golf, going to art museums, listening to good music and reading. Helen was a member of the Southwest Missouri Museum Association and Springfield Regional Arts Council,

After attending Southwest Missouri State College, Helen moved to Kansas City, MO where she went to work for Cities Service Oil Company, which later merged with Occidental Petroleum Company. Helen met the love of her life, Don. Helen and Don were married in 1975. They celebrated 40 years of marriage prior to Don's passing in 2015.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents Hershel and Helen (Bradley) Gorman; and her husband Don.

Helen is survived by her sister Billye; and her beloved nephew and nieces Mike, Cindy and Dana; and her step-children Donnie and Gina.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.
