Obituary

Harold W. Patton, 90, went home to be with our Lord at 2:59pm, February 7, 2019 in Mercy Hospital
after battling many health issues. He was born in Eldorado, Kansas, on June 23, 1928 to Elbert H. Patton and Alma (Clark) Patton,
who preceded him in death.
Harold graduated from Senior High School in 1946, then went on to take vocational training in electrical. He
served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1950-1952 and was stationed in Germany, England and
France as part of the Signal Corps, Stringing communication lines during the Korean War. He was released from
active duty in1952 with an Honorable discharge.
Harold married Ellen (Lodwick) Patton on February 5, 1954 and this year celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
they had two children, a son Steven A. Patton, who preceded him in death, and a daughter Laura (Patton) Mentzer.
Harold worked as a Senior Draftsman and Engineer, and as a CTC Maintainer in Springfield, Missouri, and retired in
December of 1990 with over 44 years of combined service with the Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroads.
Harold was a Christian and a long time member of the South Side Baptist Church and dearly loved his church family.
He loved Sailing his sailboat on Stockton and Fellows Lakes. Woodworking and building cabinetry was among his hobbies,
he always had a lot of projects going. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend who was always there
for his family and will be forever missed.
He is Survived by his wife Ellen. A sister, Ella Bryant ( Tulsa, OK.) brother, Charles Patton and wife Roma ( Springfield, MO)
daughter Laura and husband Doug Mentzer. One grandson, Ryan Mentzer( Springfield, MO) and many cousins, niece's and nephew's
and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 2 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
