Guy Wesley Trower was born in Cheboygan, Michigan to O.K. and Crystal Aileen (Braden) Trower on October 17, 1924. He died in Republic, Missouri on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at eighty-nine years of age. Guy graduated from the North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis and married Derva Dixon on June 1, 1948. They celebrated their sixty-fifth anniversary this year. A printer and Linotype operator from age fourteen, he was also a preacher of the Gospel, pastoring churches in Minnesota, Michigan, and Missouri. He was ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1961 at Battle Creek, Michigan.

Guy is survived by his wife Derva, their children Paul (wife Sharon), Daniel, Faith (husband Doug Decker), Jonathan (wife Debbie), Timothy (wife Donna), and Ethan (wife Lillian). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, brothers Arthur and John, sister Mary Ann, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Theodore, sister Laura, an infant daughter Faith Ann, a son Joel, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Guy played the violin, accordion, piano, mandolin, organ, and the musical saw. His ministry with the hand saw, played with a violin bow and learned "by ear" in 1947, was one that touched thousands as he seldom missed a chance to play Gospel music. His favorite song was "The Old Rugged Cross."

Guy's 1996 autobiography, Printer, Preacher, Parent, chronicled his life and that of his family. He enjoyed volunteer work, editing a monthly newsletter for their home's subdivision, working with the South Side Senior Center, ministering to nursing homes and a myriad of other things that kept him busy in retirement.

He was recently featured in the documentary "Linotype: The Film". It has footage of the last time Guy was able to run a Linotype machine as well as other very memorable moments that captured his personality and love of the printing trade.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 6, from 6 to 8 pm at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, in Springfield. A celebration of his life is scheduled at 10 am on Thursday, November 7, at Evangel Temple Christian Center, 2020 E. Battlefield, Springfield. Interment will be at the Hazelwood Cemetery.

Guy and Derva both enjoyed volunteering for the Whitney Library for the Blind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Library (1445 N. Booneville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802).
