Obituary

Gloria Louise Morris, of Springfield, MO, departed her earthly home for her heavenly home on Thursday, June 18, 2020. She was born on Thursday, March 15 in Tribune, KS to Sarah Phinnessee and Nelson Grayson, Sr.

Gloria grew up in Towner, CO and graduated from Plainview High School in Sheridan Lake, CO. She graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, MO with a Bachelors degree in education. Gloria began and ended her 43 year educational career as a teacher, coach and counselor at Pipkin Middle School in Springfield, MO. She was involved in community and church activities for the majority of her life. Gloria was a board member of the Boys and Girls Club, as well as Cox College. She was an active member and representative of MNEA. Being a recipient of the Everyday Hero Award and recognition by the NAACP were two of her proudest moments. Gloria met her future husband Louis at Evangel College. They were united in marriage on June 8, 1974 in Tribune, KS and to this union three children were born. She enjoyed reading, sewing, playing computer solitaire, working with children and spending time with her grandchildren.

Gloria was proceeded in death by her parents, one daughter Nicole, one brother Artis Turner and two special cousins/brothers Willis and Hurley Hurde.

Those mourning her loss are her husband, one daughter Autumn, one son Jason, two brothers Nelson Grayson, Jr. (wife Clara) and Bobby Grayson, two special cousins/brothers Lorenzo Hurde, Sr. and John Maxwell, one sister Iva Fairley, one sister-in-law Lillie Turner, one special cousin/sister Rebecca Jackson, two brothers-in-law Hilmer Morris (wife JoAnne) and Raul Morris (wife Kim), one sister-in-law Pam Morris, her loving grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 5-7 PM at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO 65802. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Turning Point Church, 1722 N. National, Springfield, MO 65803. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Harry F.
