Bobbie Glen Bradshaw, 93, of Springfield, MO departed his earthly home on Tuesday, May 12, 2025 after a long battle with his health, as well as dementia. He was born on Friday, June 17, 1932 in Norwood, Missouri but spent much of his youth in Cherokee County, Kansas.
As a teenager, he had many odd jobs to help support his family, including working at the Pepsi-Cola factory in Joplin, chauffeuring a local band and illegally selling fruits and vegetables out of his car trunk (until he got caught). Glen was a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, which ultimately took him to Virginia. There, he met the love of his life, Jean, while she worked at a donut shop in Alexandria. They married and raised three children during their time in Virginia - Ron, Mike and Glenda. During his time with the US Army, he worked on radar systems for the Nike Hercules Missile System and protected Washington, D.C. with anti-aircraft guns during the Korean War. When he left the US Army, he went to work for the government as a civilian electronics technician at MERDCOM Night Vision laboratory until his retirement. Glen was a recipient of the Conquest of Darkness award for his contributions to night vision technology, including the first generation of image intensifier tubes. The tubes and systems developed by him and his team were used both on the ground and in helicopters during the Vietnam War. He additionally holds a patent for the invention of an automatic underwater personnel intrusion alarm. Glen and Jean moved to a hobby farm outside of Willard, MO in the 1980s, where they raised a slew of barnyard animals and two of their granddaughters Sarah and Courtney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores Jean, their eldest son Ron, four brothers Ralph, Wayne, Darrell and Leon and two sisters Dorothy and Geraldine.
Glen is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Mike and Debbi, his daughter Glenda, three granddaughters Sarah, Courtney, Jessica and her husband Mark, two great-grandsons Erik and Nathan, many nieces and nephews who adored him, countless friends who loved him, as well as his beloved dog and best friend of 16 years Tootsie.
Glen will always be remembered for his sense of humor, mischievous spirit, his love of tinkering and gardening, his tan bucket hats (which he always loved to jokingly call his “Go to Hell” hats, because if you didn’t like what he was wearing, you could go to hell) and his kind heart.
A brief service, with full Military honors, will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow in the Community Room at Chesterfield Family Center. Glen was well known for his deep-seated love of McDonald's and enjoyed a McDouble and a large Dr. Pepper for lunch nearly every day. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to your local Ronald McDonald House charity or at www.rmhcozarks.org Online condolences can be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
