Geraldine (Geri) Hartman ,83, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024 at her home in Springfield, Missouri. Born on Friday, October 11, 1940, to Sam and Lucille Sartain in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, she was the second of four children and sister to three brothers.
Following the premature death of her husband, Geri married Dean Hartman in 1985 and moved from Alabama to Springfield where she helped her husband in his business, Hartman & Company, Inc. Prior to that, Geri was a manager and buyer for Mercantile Stores Company, Inc. Dean and Geri enjoyed 38 years of marriage together and have three daughters. Blessed with a fun-loving and giving spirit, Geri was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. A fitness buff with a great sense of style, Geri was always up for the next challenge at her favorite workout studio, Dynamic Body. She also enjoyed dancing, organizing her closet, Starbucks coffee, and a day of shopping, especially with her daughter, Janice. Over the years, Geri had the pleasure of taking several European cruises, a trip through the Panama Canal, Pompei, Russia, Turkey, Greece as well as numerous visits to Las Vegas.
Geri was preceded in death by her first husband James Nelson, her parents and one brother Billy Sartain.
She is survived by her husband Dean Hartman, three children Janice Nelson, Mary Beth Hartman (Mike) and Laurie Hartman of Springfield, two siblings Sammy Sartain (Dinah) and Michael Sartain of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500, S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for friends and loved ones to donate to Victory Mission + Ministry, CoxHealth Foundation, or your favorite charity in Geri's honor. During the last few years of her life, Geri suffered from dementia but never lost her beautiful smile and sense of humor. She was a joy! Our loving appreciation to all who helped to care for her. And, a special thanks to her grandfather who introduced her to Jesus whose care we commend her to now.
