On Friday, August 16, 1935, Georgia Josephine Garrison was born to Velma Clarice (Miller) and George Raymond Garrison. She was the fourth child born to this union.
Georgia Josephine (Garrison) Brixey, 89, of Springfield, MO passed away at home with family by her side on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Georgia married Jerry Brixey on August 17, 1958. They were married 52 years before his passing in 2010.
She was a homemaker and loved to have family around her. She loved kids and took care of over 300 kids during her lifetime. Georgia loved her Lord and Savior. She taught Sunday School through the years and played on the softball team for her church. She was a Rebekah and even volunteered as a firefighter. Georgia loved animals. She always had some kind of pet (cats, dogs, birds, and even a couple of flying squirrels) living in her home. Her hobbies included doing crafts, collecting angels, butterflies, wind chimes and solar outside lights.
Georgia was proceeded in death by her parents; two infant sisters, Wanda Kay, Dorthy Lee, and an infant brother; husband, Jerry; a son, Tommy Skinner; three brothers Raymond, Carroll (Darlene), and George; two sisters, Betty (Wesley) Gambriel, and Norma (Fred) Hughes; brother-in-laws, Stephen, Charles, Kermit, and Brinkley; half siblings, Gene Dan, and Mixine Simmons.
Georgia is survived by her three children Brenda (Zerl) Bryson, Mike (SherRi) Brixey, and Jamey (Melissa) Brixey. She was called "Grandma Jo" by 15 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by her siblings, Elizabeth "Liz", Shirley (Roy), Barbara "Barb", Sandra "Sue", Katherine "Darlene" (Max), and Richard "Butch" (Linda) along with her nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 5235 W. State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO 65802. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the animal charity of your choice. Online condolences can be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
