Obituary

George E. Henry, 86 of Springfield, MO passed away February 10, 2012. He was born July 18, 1925 in Springfield, son of George Henry Sr. and Anna (Hall) Henry. George graduated from Springfield High School in 1942 and was later drafted into the US Navy. While training in Chicago, he met Mary Johnson who later became his wife. He received a Civil Engineering degree from what is now MOSST in Rolla. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Springfield where George began his 33 year career for the SLSF/BN Railway as a Structural Engineer of railroad bridges. George and Mary were always active in local Baptist churches. George was also very active as a volunteer for the Red Cross, RSVP and the Homebound Shoppers Program.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his soul mate and love his life, his wife, Mary. He is survived by his daughter Karen Latham; son Mark Henry (Terre); grandchildren Heather Stewart (John), Stephanie Dusinski (Kevin), Summer Latham, Travis Henry (Stephanie), Erin Davis (Adam); great grandchildren Haven Henry, Elijah Dusinski, Ian Dusinski and Grey Stewart; a brother Matt Henry (Jacquelyn) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service is planned for Tuesday, February 14th at 1:00 p.m. in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Highway EE, Springfield, MO. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
