George Robert Brite passed away in his home July 31, 2017.
Born May 18, 1949, in Springfield, to parents George "Mucca" and Helen "Honey" Brite, Robert graduated from Parkview High School in 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Theater with an emphasis in Broadcasting from then-Southwest Missouri State University and became a mainstay of Springfield airwaves as a premier voice of KTXR, KICK and KGBX. His subsequent audio business, Robert Brite & Associates, proudly served the Ozarks and beyond for more than 40 years, providing unequaled entertainment for thousands of occasions and producing memorable radio programming and advertising for local stations and businesses.
Robert tirelessly supported the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, Arc of the Ozarks and Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. The CBCO Hall of Fame bears his name among top all-time donors.
A connoisseur of the Golden Age of Radio and film, Robert found endless enjoyment in, and maintained encyclopedic knowledge of, yesteryear pastimes. His exceptional expertise in original Universal Monsters movies lent well to his passion for Halloween.
Robert's affinity for animals fostered a loving home for dozens of pets throughout his life.
A meticulous, prolific note taker, he remembered every name, date and detail.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, Miles and Sara Brite of Carlilse, Iowa, and Brady Brite of Springfield; ex-wife Rebecca Jameson of Humansville; grandchildren Dakota Nichols of Leesburg, Georgia, Conner and Ashley Morse of Norfolk, Virginia, Robert and Kira Hwang of Des Moines, Iowa, Courtney Brite, Caitlyn Wommack and Noah Brite of Nixa, who miss their "PawPaw;" and countless indelibly marked friends, colleagues, radio listeners and lesser conversationalists.
A graveside remembrance 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield will deliver Robert to rest.
In lieu of flowers, Robert would have encouraged monetary donations to the BCFO or donations of blood to the CBCO or your local organization.
