Howard "Gene" Tummons, 73, of Springfield, MO passed away at his home on Monday, July 8, 2019. He was born in Willard, MO on Monday, February 25, 1946 to Dona Ann Pitt and Fred Merl Tummons.

Gene graduated from Marion C. Early High School in 1964 and attended SMS for two years. After working for over 30 years, he retired as a Teamster. Gene was a member of the Rosehill Baptist Church, the Willard Lodge AF + AM #620, the Valley of Joplin Scottish Rite and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine. As a Shriner he was active in Hospital Dads and the Corvette Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carolyn.

Gene is survived by his son Andy, one step-son Scott Glover, one sister Reva Sikes (husband Charles), one brother Henry Tummons (wife Julieann), three nephews Cary Sikes, Greg Sikes and Jeffery Tummons, two nieces Robin Heaton (husband James) and Melinda Althuis (husband Greg), two grandchildren Alex and Jakob, ten step-grandchildren Heaven, Power, Treasure, Justice, Honor, Noble, Journey, Promise, Israel and Jewel Glover and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Highway EE, Springfield, MO 65802. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Rose Hill Baptist Church, 9903 N. State Hwy Z, Willard, MO 65781.
