Elvin "Gene" Deckard, 89, of Springfield, MO went home to be with his
Lord surrounded by his loving family on Monday May 6, 2019. Gene
was born on February 25, 1930 in Springfield, to Barney and Famie
(Case) Deckard. He was 1 of 9 children, including a twin.

Gene married Ida (Matney) on February 17, 1952 and this union was
blessed with three children, Jerry, Deborah and Thomas. Gene owned
and operated Deckard Construction. Gene and Ida loved having camp
meetings at their home in the country. Gene was a kind and gentle man
who loved his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 7 siblings and a son, Thomas.
Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 67 years, Ida; son Jerry
and wife Holly; daughter Deborah and husband Russ; daughter in-law Sherry,                                                          6 grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild, his beloved dog Roni                                      as well as a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends. He will be greatly missed by all
whose lives have been touched by his.

A Visitation is scheduled for Monday May 13 th from 1-2 pm at Klingner-
Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel. A Funeral Service to
follow at 2pm with burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Memorial
donations may be made in Gene's name, in lieu of flowers, to Convoy of
Hope (330 S Patterson Ave, Ste 100, Springfield, MO 65804).
