Gene Clayton, 96, of Ozark, Mo, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2015 after a long and happy life.
Gene was born in Oilton, OK on June 14, 1919 to Julia VanWinkle and Walter P. Clayton.
He was a true outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, and could fix anything that was broken. He owned Clayton TV and Radio where he sold many families their very first TV.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ralph and Raymond Clayton, and two sisters; Marjorie Hill and Pauline Mason.
Gene is survived by his daughter Shirley Ohler, granddaughter Amy Davis and husband Kevin, a niece Carol Reed, a host of family and friends, and his faithful companion Sparky.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel from 5-7pm. Services will be held on Friday December 4, 2015 at Rivermonte Chapel at 10 o''clock with internment to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to SW MO K9s or Rt 66 Rescue in Springfield Mo.
