After a prolonged battle with cancer, Frank Malcolm Snider died on September 5, 2016 in Springfield, MO at the age of 79. He leaves behind his wife, Shirley Snider; his brother, Jack Snider; his son, Howard Snider; his daughter, Diana Forbes; his son-in-law, Jeff Forbes; his granddaughters Kaitlin and Hailey Oxenreider; and an extensive amount of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Frank was born on August 30th, 1937 in Bruner, MO to William Newton, and Elsie Mae Snider, and grew up alongside 3 brothers, Jack, Jerry, and Gene. Frank joined the Army Reserves in 1956 and stayed through to 1962, but his willingness to learn and excel in school was always in the forefront. Walking uphill, both ways, barefoot, in the snow; you''d think that would put a damper on your school daynot Frank''s. At a young age he whisked away his then best friend''s girlfriend, Shirley, and on March 29th, 1957 they became Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Shirley Snider. Frank continued to excel in school and later graduated from college with a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1958 they welcomed their first child into the world, Howard. Frank accepted a job in Jefferson City, MO, where he and his family moved, and in 1965 welcomed their 2nd child, Diana. After a number of years the family moved back to Springfield, MO, and Frank began working for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a project manager, where he retired a vast 33 years later. Over the next several years, his kids grew up and his daughter gave him two awesome, amazing, perfect, phenomenal grandchildren, Kaitlin and Hailey.
Frank was accomplished at just about anything he could get his hands on and often exuded his talents in both engineering and genealogy. He was a witty, brainy, and ornery individual who loved gardening, bird watching, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and McDonald''s hamburgers.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank''s life; an open visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave, from 6-8 PM. A funeral is scheduled for Sunday, September 11, 2:00 PM at the funeral home with military-honor graveside services to follow at Bruner Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Cox South Hospital oncology ward and respiratory therapists for their care and dedication to Frank and helping him through the tough journey of the dreaded disease we all know too well.
