Obituary

Floyd Bardaine Shockley went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. He was surrounded by his family with the hope of life eternal. Floyd was born on May 12, 1929 and was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Lee (Latterner) Shockley on March 21, 1952. Floyd and Dorothy were married for 64 wonderful years before his passing. He spent his final days with his bride at the James River Care Center.

Floyd and Dorothy were faithful members of Galloway Baptist Church and lived and raised their family in the Galloway community. Shock, as his friends knew him, worked at Ash Grove Cement Co. for over 30 years, was a 50 year Master Mason at Henderson Lodge 477 in Rogersville, and enjoyed greeting people at the Auto Auction. Shock never met a stranger, loved to garden and would share his vegetables with whoever needed them. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren, family and friends. He devoted his last years on his earthly home caring for Miss Dorothy Lee by making life as comfortable as possible. His sense of humor will be truly missed.

Shock was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Shockley; his brother Earl; and his beloved son, Steven Mark Shockley.

He is survived by his wife; sisters: Freda Hall, Mary Ellen Shockley and their families; daughter: Kathy Southard; daughter-in-law: Janelle Mallow and husband Todd; and his wonderful grandchildren: Amanda Frost and husband Rob; Abby Hathcock and husband Trey; and Seth and Paige Shockley.
